May 17 - Session Wrap Up News & Information from the 87th District
Best regards from Dulles. The General Assembly recently adjourned the 2012 Special Session. Monday was the last and longest day of this year – the House came to order at 1:00 p.m. and the Session closed at 1:54 a.m. on Tuesday morning. During the 13-hour marathon, we considered 107 budget amendments submitted by the Governor. We passed 79 of those amendments for Senate consideration. The Senate, in turn, passed 74. The Governor is set to complete action on all amendments by the end of the week and thus state agencies, counties and cities can move forward on their budgets. Although the media concentrated on those few amendments that didn’t pass, the good news is that we passed 72% of Governor McDonnell’s amendments in both Chambers. I am honored to have supported key amendments that grow Virginia’s economy and add jobs. I am committed to continue advocating for additional transportation solutions, better and more effective government, and economic prosperity…

March 9 – News & Information
Best regards from Richmond. This is our final scheduled week of the 60-day 2012 General Assembly Session. As we move towards adjourning for the year, the Commonwealth is still without a Budget due to the Senate Democrats’ failure to act. In the House of Delegates, we passed a fiscally responsible budget with bipartisan support; the Senate Democrats killed it. We introduced it again, passed it again and sent it to the Senate; they’ve yet to act on it. The Senate Democrats are holding the Budget hostage. They demanded additional committee assignments and it is now reported that the Senate Democrats are demanding $489 million in additional spending before they consider the budget – yes ‘consider’ not ‘agree to’. They are doing this for purely partisan gain….

March 2 – News & Information
Best regards from Richmond. I am writing today from the Floor of the House during the reintroduction of the Budget since the Budget which we passed last week was killed in the Senate. Legislation is continuously passing through both Chambers and being sent to the Governor for his review; but not the Budget. Senate Democrats decided to hold the Commonwealth’s Budget hostage in a partisan attempt to gain committee seats. We will hopefully pass another set of Budget Bills in the House today and send them to the Senate again to give Senate Democrats another chance to act and do the responsible thing. In the meantime, here are few updates:…
